Earth Wind & Fire Experience by Al McKay
9 PM - Thursday, June 12
It's all about the music...
Built around legendary Earth, Wind & Fire guitarist Al McKay, the aptly named "Al McKay's Earth, Wind & Fire Experience" reincarnates the spirit of the original—powerfully delivering hit after hit from the supergroup—in the original keys and with the original feel. McKay's band, the Earth, Wind & Fire Experience, delivers a breathtaking demonstration of the power of a vibrant, vital performance, maintaining the high level of live excellence that established Earth, Wind & Fire's original sound.
For fans around the world, the question is often, "Where did this band come from?"
It was 1982. After Al McKay's departure, Earth, Wind & Fire was on its last legs. Finally, in 1983, it was over. The band that had defined the modern sound of R&B music was finished. All that remained was the legacy of music that had sustained and nourished an entire generation.
In 1990, EWF icon Al McKay—who was the original band's "groove director," produced "Boogie Wonderland," co-wrote "September," and was world-renowned for his rhythm guitar skills—decided to form a band based on the spirit of the original group. They called themselves the "LA Allstars."
The group brought together former EWF members in a rhythm-section-driven model of the original band, organized around McKay's guitar work and musical direction.
Over the years, the LA Allstars—and later the Al McKay Allstars—featured a who's who of R&B and funk's most influential musicians. Performing their show worldwide, "Al McKay's Earth, Wind & Fire Experience" is the closest thing anyone has to what EWF sounded like in its heyday in the late 1970s and early '80s.
The McKay Earth, Wind & Fire Experience is the band, conceived and rehearsed by Al McKay, which consists of an all-star lineup, including legendary singers Tim Owen, DeVere Duckett, Claude Woods, and former Earth, Wind & Fire member Gregory Moore.
Al McKay is not necessarily part of the lineup due to health issues.
With legendary Earth, Wind & Fire guitarist Gregory Moore, the shows over the past two years have been phenomenal. Among musicians and fans, the band is considered the best funk band on the planet today.
So if you're a fan of American funk music or EWF music in general, be sure to see and hear Al McKay's Earth, Wind & Fire Experience during their world tour. It's truly a unique opportunity and an experience not to be missed.
