When Voltaire invites himself to the castle!

Saturday October 14, we invite you to a show specially created for the Château de Sully-sur-Loire. Relive Voltaire's crazy and epic adventures at the castle during this concert combining music, theater and dance. The intimate and warm atmosphere of the king's bedroom and the hall of honor will be the ideal setting to immerse yourself during a 1.5 hour concert in the 18th century.

What is the program?

An invitation to dive back into the world of Voltaire, his escapades, his fantasies and his adventures. Host of the castle on several occasions, he is the headliner of our concert.

7 p.m. marks the start of our Voltairian stroll with a musical welcome in the chapel.

Spectators are brought to the first floor of the dungeon for a first stop in the king's bedroom. The birth of François-Marie Arouet - in other words Voltaire - will be evoked with airs of Boismortier and Campra, against the backdrop of a fable by La Fontaine.

Once this preamble has been completed, the concert will take place in the main hall of the dungeon. Around you a gallery of portraits of the owners or members of the Béthune family, owner at the time. The 5th Duke of Sully, whom you will see, welcomed Voltaire to his lands during several exiles. It is this story that our artists will tell you. To the tunes of Boismortier, Couperin, Rameau, Lully and many others.

8:30 p.m., as the end of the show approaches, we invite you to stay a little on site during a gourmet side stage to chat with our artists once the performance is over. The opportunity to snack while discussing art, philosophy or enjoying our monument a little longer.
