This is a unique opportunity to (re)discover this jewel of the department's heritage, a symbol of our history and culture.

The "Loiret Weekend" is much more than just a visit. It's an invitation to reconnect with one of the most beautiful castles in France, a place where the history of the Loiret has been written century after century. Stroll through the grand halls, admire the unique timber frame of the keep, and immerse yourself in the atmosphere that witnessed the passing of Joan of Arc and the Duke of Sully.
We are proud to share this heritage with those who bring our region to life every day.
🎁 Free entry for Loiret residents
For this special weekend, entry to the castle will be free for all residents of Loiret!
Simply present proof of residence at the entrance (ID, utility bill, or any document proving your residence in the Loiret department).

The Loiret Residents' Weekend is a comprehensive initiative by the Department encompassing its four flagship sites. On April 11th and 12th, 2026, if you live or were born in the Loiret, these monuments will also open their doors to you free of charge (proof of residence required).
Here's what you can discover:
🌸 Château de Chamerolles (Chilleurs-aux-Bois)
The "Château des Parfums" (Château of Perfumes) offers a sensory immersion:
Themed mini-tours: Discover the history of the château or how its famous perfume organ works (20-30 minute sessions throughout the day).
Renaissance Gardens: Enjoy a stroll through its gardens, designated a Sensitive Natural Area.
For children: Activity booklets are available to explore the park while having fun.
🏹 Gien Castle-Museum
Overlooking the Loire River, this red-brick castle is dedicated to hunting and wildlife culture:
Unique collections: Discover the history of hunting, falconry, and animal art through the centuries.
Bonus: The panoramic view of the Loire from the castle terrace is one of the most beautiful in the region.
🎖️ Museum of the Resistance and Deportation (Lorris)
A poignant and modern memorial located in the heart of the Orléans Forest:
Immersive Experience: The museum recounts the local and national history of the Resistance, particularly strong in this area with the Lorris Maquis.

Required Documentation: To benefit from free admission, please bring an ID with an address in the Loiret department or proof of residence dated within the last 3 months.
